On Track for Nostaligia at Model Railway Day

The Ulster Folk & Transport Museum is getting set for its much anticipated Model Railway Day – which has grown to become the biggest in Ireland. Visitors to the famous Transport Galleries at the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum on Saturday 12th November are in for a treat with over 30 railway layouts and associated exhibits.

Ulster Museum to host iconic poppy sculpture as part of 14-18 NOW tour

The presentations by 14-18 NOW, the UK’s arts programme for the First World War centenary, will give people across the UK the chance to experience the impact of the ceramic poppy sculptures in a range of places of particular First World War resonance. The Ulster Museum houses Northern Ireland’s national collections of art, history and natural science.  In 2014, to mark the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War, the Ulster Museum opened a new, permanent ‘Modern History’ gallery. The ‘Decade of Centenaries’ period, from 1912-22, is at the heart of this gallery, in recognition of the significance of this period in shaping the future, outlook and identities of what was to become Northern Ireland. The First World War and its aftermath are explored through social, cultural, political and military history. 

DIARIES OF ‘FATHER OF IRISH BOTANY’ BROUGHT TO LIGHT IN THE ULSTER MUSEUM

Engines At The Ready For Museum’s Letstance Show And Shine Event

The Ulster Folk & Transport Museum is set to host one of the largest car shows in Northern Ireland this year. Organised in partnership with the Letstance Car Club, the Letstance Show and Shine event will take place on the grounds of the Transport Museum at Cultra on Sunday 22nd May from 10am – 5pm.
