Take a ‘Fantastic Voyage’ with Movies at the Museum
Published: 22 February 2010
The Ulster Museum and Queen’s Film Theatre (QFT) have teamed up again to provide a series of unique and exclusive big screen experiences for all the family.
In response to the very successful reintroduction of the best loved tradition of Saturday Matinees at the Ulster Museum earlier this year, a second season programme of ‘Movies at the Museum’ will take place from Saturday 27th February to Saturday 17th April.
Director of Learning & Partnership for National Museums Northern Ireland Paddy Gilmore said, “We had a fantastic response to the first season of Saturday Matinees and we wanted to give more visitors the opportunity to enjoy this unique movie experience.”
“We have chosen ‘Nature’ as this season’s theme, as 2010 is the International Year of Biodiversity. ‘Movies at the Museum’ gives visitors of all ages a fresh opportunity to go and explore our collections and the Nature Discovery Zone which offers a real hands-on experience with its interactive displays.”
Susan Picken, Head of QFT said, “We are thrilled to team up with the Ulster Museum again for ‘Movies at the Museum.’ The first season of Saturday family matinees was a huge success and our new programme promised to be Justas much fun! Following the screening of 1975 classic ‘One of Our Dinosaurs is Missing’, visitors can meet the Edmontosaurus dinosaur in the Museum’s wonderful Window on Our World display tower, bringing a new and unique dimension to their movie experience.”
Tickets are £2.70 per person or £10 per family – (four people with at least one child or one adult) and are available to purchase in advance from www.queensfilmtheatre.com. Limited tickets may be available to purchase on the day from the Ulster Museum reception. All movies start at 2pm.
