Pupils Video conference with Award-Winning Author at Ulster American Folk Park

On Tuesday 5th February, 120 schools were connected via video-conference to one of Ireland’s best-selling children’s authors, Marita Conlon-McKenna, to talk about her book 'Under the Hawthorn Tree', the first installment of her world famous Children of the Famine Trilogy.

No experience required: Creative writing course

“A Window on Emigration” is the theme of a six-week creative writing course for the Over 50s being held at the Ulster American Folk Park in Omagh. The creative writing course is part of National Museums Northern Ireland’s Live & Learn Project.

Short’s SC1 vertical take-off aircraft receives Northern Ireland’s first Engineering Heritage Award. The aircraft, built in Belfast in 1960 and currently on display at the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum at Cultra , was recognised as being the first British fixed-wing vertical take-off and landing aircraft.
