Museum Uncovered with Station Road

Published: 28 October 2009

Museum Uncovered with Station RoadOver the past five weeks a group of women from the Station Road Resource Centre have visited the museum and explored our collections.

The first week they considered the role of women and domestic objects. Then they explored the theme of archaeology and identified flint, axes and arrow heads followed by the chance to make a clay pot!  The group also participated in the Harvest sessions held at the museum and made Harvest knots and corn plaits (click image to enlarge).

The programme also involved the art collection and the group produced silhouettes and self-portraits. A few budding artists were discovered! The participants enjoyed the sessions and the opportunity to see and explore objects they had not considered before. The group plan to return in December for a traditional Christmas workshop.
