Saddler's, Co Cavan
This original shopfront was acquired from Stonewall between Bailieboro and Virginia, near the Cavan-Longford border in south county Cavan. It had been run as a general store by the Weir family from 1930. Before that it was a grocery store run by a Mrs Cruickshank (nee Gray) of Lisball, Bailieboro. The property was also a forge at one time.
The shop is typical of many in the Bailieboro area and reflects a style popular throughout Ulster in the late 1800s. Its interior fittings were the contents of a complete saddlery, once the workplace of Joe McMaster, Saddler, Newtownstewart, County Tyrone.
