Tea Rooms and Picnic Areas
It’s hungry work exploring the Museum, so take time to relax and enjoy some refreshments at our Ballycultra and Midland tearooms. They’re open during normal Museum opening hours.
The tearooms are both great areas for a well-earned rest during your visit so come and relax in the comfortable, family friendly surroundings where you can enjoy a hearty homemade, hot meal or choose from one of our panini or sandwich offerings. Teas, coffees and soft drinks are available as well as a delightful selection of sweet and savoury light snacks.
Both tearooms offer informal seating and are wheelchair friendly. High chairs available if required.

From the ticket booth walk towards the town area past the Titanic workers display. Heading straight stroll past the row of terraced houses taking a right at the end of the row and up the steps. The tearoom is the first building to your left when you get to the top of the steps.

Take a right onto Tea Lane past the corner shop and white washed labourers’ row of houses. At the corner turn left and head towards the Diamond. When you reach the railway porters house at the end of the row the tearoom is on your left across the grassed area.
Location of Midland tearoom transport museum no. 5 on the mapThe Midland tearoom is located within the transport museum on the rail gallery floor towards the rear of the building. The structure within which the tearoom is housed is the original 1897 railway sales kiosk which was located on the main concourse of York Road railway station.
There are picnic areas throughout the Museum and visitors are encouraged to bring pack lunches for use in these areas. However visitors are not allowed to use portable barbeques for health and safety reasons.
