Native and traditional breeds weekend

Organised in partnership with the Traditional Farm Livestock Foundation, the activity filled weekend will give visitors the opportunity to get up close to traditional breeds of cattle, horses, pigs, poultry and sheep.

Also on show will be a range of animals including Irish Moiled cattle, Saddleback pigs, Clydesdale horses, Galway sheep and display of working donkeys.  Throughout the weekend Vaughn Byrne from the Traditional Farm Livestock Foundation will be on hand to offer live commentary on the history of the various animals including how they came to be such important traditional breeds.

Visitors can also purchase a range of goods at the many craft stalls and there’s even a poultry auction on Saturday

Robert Berry, Farm Manager at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum said: “This event enables us to appreciate our native and traditional breeds by allowing visitors to get up close to these beautiful animals. It’s a fantastic day out for the whole family as in addition to the livestock there will be, craft demonstrations and dog agility display”.
