Celebrate romance with National Museums’ online collection
Published: 14 February 2011
This Valentine’s Day National Museums Northern Ireland is celebrating romance with a special online collection of Valentine’s Day cards.
Dating back to the Victorian Era the cards are being featured on National Museums Northern Ireland’s "Collections Online". The beautiful cards have been intricately decorated with delicate paper and lace. Those wanting some ideas for their own Valentine’s card are sure to be inspired by this stunning collection.
"Collections Online" went live in September 2010, marking a landmark development in NMNI’s ability to share information and images from its collections with a wider audience.
This online resource means objects like these rare Victorian Cards are just a click away. At present we have around 15,000 records and images online revealing diverse collections of artworks, gemstones, historic photographs, toy aeroplanes and now greetings cards.
