International Artists come for Lecture Series

The Ulster Museum, in partnership with the University of Ulster and Arts Council of Northern Ireland, is hosting a series of lectures with internationally renowned artists, from November 2009 to March 2010. Pictured left Chris Knight art, Chris Knight lecture is taking place on Wednesday 24th February.
Lecturing on their specialism’s which range from jewellery, textile art, ceramics and silver, will be Ted Noten, Lucy Brown, Walter Keeler, Takeshi Yasuda, Felicity Aylieff, Chris Knight and Laura McCafferty.
The guest lecturers have created beautiful works of art throughout their careers.
British artist Lucy Brown, who will give a lecture on Wednesday 18th November 2009, has designed three dimensional textile art from vintage clothing. Lecturing on Wednesday 3rd February 2010 is Takeshi Yasuda, Director of the Porcelain Pottery Workshop in Jingdezhen China, whose pieces have been exhibited and held in museums collections throughout the world.
Head of Art at the Ulster Museum, Kim Mawhinney said the talks will be a fantastic opportunity to discover how international artists work, “We are thrilled that artists will be coming to the Museum to provide insights into their work and the inspirations behind it. It’s an honour for the Ulster Museum to host lectures from these extremely important artists, who have exhibited their work worldwide.”
The lectures are sure to fascinate those with a passion for applied art and craft, as well as those who are curious about the beautiful designs created by each artists.
